The short version. Recurly stores the subscriptions you type in, plus an account identifier if you create one. There is no bank connection, no advertising, no analytics SDK and no data sold or shared with anyone. If you sign in, your data syncs through Google Firebase. You can delete everything from inside the app.

Who we are

Recurly is made by Kode Foundry. If you want to reach a person about anything on this page, write to hello@kodefoundry.com.

What Recurly stores

DataWhyWhere
Subscriptions you add: name, provider, cost, billing cycle, dates, category, notes, icon and colour This is the app. Without it there is nothing to show you. Your device. Also Google Firebase if you have an account.
Price history: the old and new cost each time you change one Powers the price history chart and the price rise alerts. Same as above.
Settings: currency, theme, reminder preferences, quiet hours, spend goal So the app behaves the way you set it up. Same as above.
An account identifier Tells Firebase which data is yours. Anonymous until you sign in. Google Firebase Authentication.
Your email address and display name, only if you sign in with email, Apple or Google So you can get back into your account on another device. Google Firebase Authentication.

What Recurly does not do

  • No bank or card connection. Recurly cannot see your transactions, because it has no way to ask for them.
  • No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
  • No third party analytics or tracking SDK, in the app or on this website.
  • No selling, renting or sharing your data with anyone.
  • No profiling, and no automated decisions about you.

This website

Everything above is about the app. This website counts page loads so we can tell whether anyone is reading it. A count is a page address, a date and a number. That is the whole record. There is no cookie, no identifier, no fingerprint and no profile, so the count cannot be traced back to you, and we cannot tell one visitor from another or a returning visitor from a new one.

The counter is ours and runs on our own Firebase project. Nothing is sent to an advertising network or an analytics company. If your browser sends Do Not Track, the counter does not run at all. Blocking it changes nothing about the site.

Anonymous accounts

The first time you open Recurly it creates an anonymous account so the app works without asking you to sign up. That account holds a random identifier and no personal details. If you later sign in with email, Apple or Google, the anonymous account is upgraded in place so your existing subscriptions carry over.

Where your data lives

Your subscriptions are written to your device first, which is why the app works with no signal. If you have an account, they also sync to Google Firebase, operated by Google Ireland Limited, so your data survives a lost phone and reaches your other devices.

Firebase stores data on Google infrastructure, which may involve transfers outside the European Economic Area under Google's Standard Contractual Clauses. Google's own privacy terms apply to their handling of it. See Firebase privacy and security.

Access is enforced by security rules that scope every record to your account identifier. No other user can read your subscriptions.

Sign in with Apple

If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple sends us an identifier and, if you allow it, your name and email address. Choosing Apple's private relay email means we never see your real address, and Recurly works exactly the same either way.

Notifications

Charge reminders and trial alerts are scheduled on your device by iOS. Deciding when to notify you happens on your phone, not on a server. If you deny notification permission the rest of the app still works.

Widgets

The home screen and lock screen widgets read a small summary file stored in a shared container on your device. That file never leaves your phone.

How long we keep it

Until you delete it. Recurly has no retention timer and does not archive your data after you stop using the app.

Deleting your data

You have two options inside the app, both under Settings:

  • Delete all data removes every subscription, category and price record from your device and from Firebase. Your account stays.
  • Delete my account removes all of that plus the account itself. It is immediate and cannot be undone.

Export your data first if you might want it back. Settings offers JSON and CSV.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, and you can object to processing. The app already gives you access, correction, erasure and export without asking anyone. For anything else, write to hello@kodefoundry.com.

You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Recurly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we store or who can see it, we will update the date at the top and say what changed. We are not going to quietly rewrite it.
